Ministry presents 2012-2015 Country Program on Decent Labor
The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, in collaboration with its social and international partners, intends to develop more policies that would improve the situation on the labor market. The new Country Program on Decent Labor for the years 2012-2015 was presented on Tuesday at a press conference attended by representatives of unions, employers’ association and of the International Labor Organization, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The experts noted that the employment level in Moldova dropped from 54.8% in 2000 to 38.5% in 2010. This means 420,000 fewer jobs in just 10 years.
In order to overcome the deficiencies discovered on the labor market, the responsible Ministry developed the long-term employment strategy for 2007-2015, following the example of the European Employment Strategy. Its goal is to ensure better coherence between the economic and social policies in the country and the social protection of vulnerable people.
The proposed reforms are implemented in collaboration with unions and employers’ associations. The Country Program will focus on a better government of the labor market, on promoting decent labor, employment opportunities and an improved social protection system. Besides, an efficient tool will be developed for solving labor conflicts.
Another goal of the program is to develop a regulatory framework with increased institutional capacities to manage labor migration and to prevent exploitation by labor. The Country Program stipulates better employment opportunities for young people. It will also prepare policies for the development of the social security systems.
