Ministry of Labor proposes stricter penalties for breaching labor safety protocol
The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family proposes harsher sanctions for breaching labor safety rules, reports Info-Prim Neo.
Presently, the breach of labor health safety measures and other labor protection protocols by individuals is sanctioned with fees ranging from 800 to 1,000 lei. The Ministry proposes an increase in fines to 2,000-2,800 lei. While people in positions of authority get fines between 4,000 and 7,000 lei for such breaches, and legal entities from 1,600 to 2,400 lei, the Ministry wants to increase these fines to 7,000-9,000 lei.
Also, it has been proposed to punish undeclared labor. Individuals who perform undeclared labor would be fined 2,000-3,000 lei; people in positions of authority 5,000-7,000 lei; and legal entities 7,000-10,000 lei. The Ministry also proposes to fine employers who hire minors to jobs that pose life and health-threatening risks. The suggested fines range from 2,000 to 10,000 lei.
The Ministry explains this initiative is a response to the fact that many employers do not abide by the Law even after being fined.
