If the car is parked illegally, this will be taken to a special parking place from where the owner could take it only if this pays the towing and parking tax. If the car is parked legally, but hampers traffic, for example on the routes crossed by official delegations, this will be moved to the nearest available place. In this case, the costs will be covered with state budget funds. The Ministry of the Interior proposed for public debates regulations concerning the method of towing away units of transport that impede road traffic, IPN reports.
Under the regulations of the Contravention Code, the motor vehicles parked illegally can be taken to the police subdivisions situated near the place where the contravention was committed. As the places set up for the purpose are insufficient and there are no special towing and transportation vehicles, the authorities suggest using the services of business entities that will set the tariffs for towing and parking.
If the vehicles are taken to police subdivisions, there will be applied the tariffs set by the Government: in municipalities and district centers – 250 lei for towing the unit of transport, in suburbs – between 300 and 350 lei, depending on the type of motor vehicle. Depending on the period of stay in the special parking, a parking tax of 15 lei an hour will be applied for the first five days and of 200 lei for 24 hours if the period is longer. In the case of buses, the tax for entering the parking place will be 550 lei, leaving for up to five days – 20 lei an hour and leaving for a longer period – 360 lei for 24 hours. For trucks and trailers longer than seven meters, the taxes will be higher.
By another bill, the Ministry suggests that the persons who will drive under the influence of alcohol should be striped of the driver’s license that could be regained only after taking again the driving test or attending, in particular cases, anti-alcohol and anti-drug courses.
