Ministry of Health keeps an eye on doctors that take bribe
The directors of medical institutions and doctors will be employed through contest. The topic was discussed by the Minister of Health Anfrei Usatai at a meeting with members of the Prohealth Club. According to the Minister, this step will considerably reduce corruption in medical institutions, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Andrei Usatai thinks that corruption in the healthcare system stems from the administrative structure. “In order to become a director, one usually has to pay. Once employed, the person will try to recover the money”, said the Minister, adding that the patients are those who have to pay.
Usatai says that employment contests could improve the situation if the members of selection commissions are independent people, without personal interests linked to any of the candidates.
“Soon, such contests will be organized because the current scheme of appointing doesn’t allow us to properly appreciate the professionalism of employees”, he stressed.
According to Andrei Usatai, corruption cases are hard to detect, because the ones who give and the ones who take bribe keep silent. The Minister encourages people to report corruption cases at 080071010 and civil society to be more active and help authorities in fighting corruption. Additionally, a College of Doctors will soon be created to detect bribery cases and penalize involved doctors.
