The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, through the agency of its diplomatic channels, called on all the foreign partners to refrain from delegating observers and not to take part in the so-called ‘presidential election’ of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, the Mnistry’s spokesman Daniel Vodă posted on social media, being quoted by IPN.
The Moldovan diplomatic service noted that any participation in such actions represents defiance of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and undermines the Transnistrian settlement process.
The Reintegration Policies Bureau earlier said the electoral exercise set for December 12 in the Transnistrian region is held outside the constitutional framework and in breach of the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. The Bureau reiterated the position of the Government of the Republic of Moldova that such “elections” cannot be recognized and are considered null and void. It called on the international partners to refrain from statements, covering, assigning of “electoral observers” or other actions and contacts with representatives of Tiraspol on the issue so as to exclude any legalization of the so-called “election”.
