Ten persons were killed and scores more were injured when two regional trains collided near Bari, between the Italian towns Andria and Corata on the coastline of the Adriatic Sea, on July 12. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova keeps in touch with the Italian authorities with a view to establishing if the victims include Moldovans, IPN reports.
The local authorities of Andria anticipate that the number of casualties will increase given the serious state of those hurt. The actions of the Italian authorities are now aimed at providing assistance to the victims and at determining the circumstances of the accident.
The Ministry will provide consular assistance if necessary. The persons can contact its Call Center in Chisinau on 080090990 (free call); +373 22 788 722 (from abroad) or the Embassy of Moldova in Rome: + 39 06 47881022; fax: + 39 06 45677262; emergency phone: +39 3294421091; email: roma@mfa.md.
