The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova firmly condemns the launch of a ballistic missile by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on February 12, 2017, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry, the continuation of such actions by the North-Korean authorities represents a violation of the multiple resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, including Resolution No. 2321 that was adopted in November 2016.
The Republic of Moldova shares the international community’s concerns about these actions with destabilizing effect on the security situation in the Korean Peninsula and neighboring regions and calls on the authorities in Pyongyang to renounce the nuclear armed policy and to become again involved in a credible political dialogue with the international community, in particular in the six-party talks.
According to foreign press reports, North Korea fired a ballistic rocket at about 7:55am on February 12, from Banghyeon air base towards East, in the direction of Japan. The missile covered a distance of about 500 km and then fell into the sea.
