Ministry of Finance demands that local public authorities raise salaries of budget-paid employees

The Ministry of Finance says that the local public authorities should increase the salaries of budget-paid employees in accordance with the Government’s decision of February 18, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry’s website. Deputy Minister of Finance Nina Lupan said that the local public authorities have not paid higher salaries for January to the employees of institutions financed from the budgets of the territorial-administrative units, as stipulated in the Government’s decision. The deputy minister calls on the administrations of the 11 districts (Basarabeasca, Cantemir, Gagauzia, Causeni, Cimislia, Edinet, Glodeni, Hancesti, Ialoveni, Telenesti, Ungheni and the municipality of Chisinau) that did not pay higher salaries to immediately fulfill the executive’s decision. Nina Lupan said that the Government had allocated 467 million lei for raising salaries. On February 20, the Ministry of Finance transferred the 42 million lei needed to cover the January pay rise. Another 42 million lei was allocated on March 2. It will be used to pay higher salaries for February.
