Ministry of Environment suggests installing surveillance cameras and scales at each quarry

The Ministry of the Environment put forward an amendment to the Subsoil Code, providing that surveillance cameras and scales should be set up at every quarry, IPN reports.

The large trucks transporting useful minerals will be weighed when they go out of the quarry so that the load does not exceed the maximum weight allowed per car. The cameras will be used to monitor how the legislation is obeyed.

According to a communiqué of the Ministry, such measures will prevent large trucks from travelling on national and local roads as they often transport more useful minerals than it is allowed.

If the Ministry’s proposal is accepted by Parliament, the list of documents for issuing a license allowing extracting minerals and producing and bottling natural drinking and mineral water will be extended to include a certificate confirming the presence of surveillance cameras and scales.
