Ministers of interior and defense presented to staff

The new Minister of the Interior Andrei Năstase was introduced by Prime Minister Maia Sandu to the personnel of the General Police Inspectorate. For his part, Andrei Năstase presented the acting head of the National Police Gheorghe Balan, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Police.

Andrei Năstase said the Police bear the important responsibility of guaranteeing the safety of each citizen. He wished Gheorghe Balan success in his professional activity, saying he banks on his responsibility and professionalism.

Andrei Năstase is a lawyer by profession. He graduated from the History and Geography Facility of the Suceava University “Stefan cel Mare” and the Faculty of Law of the Iasi University “Alexandru Ioan Cuza”. Since 1997 until 2000, he served as a prosecutor at the Chisinau Transport Prosecutor’s Office. In 2000-2002, he worked as vice director of the Moldovan-Germans mixed enterprise Air Moldova S.R.L. He is a founding member and leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform and the president and foundation members of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. In 2018, he was elected mayor of Chisinau, but the elections were not validated for the reason that he campaigned on the election day, violating thus the Election Code.

In an official ceremony last weekend, President Igor Dodon presented the new Minister of Defense Pavel Voicu. He expressed his conviction that together with the command corps of the National Army, the military and civilian personnel will contribute to ensuring peace and stability and the integrity, sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova.

Pavel Voicu graduated from the “Ștefan cel Mare” Academy of the Ministry of the Interior and the Public Administration Academy under the President of the Republic of Moldova. He held different posts at the Ungheni Police Inspectorate, the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption and the National Anticorruption Center. He served as the chief of the Călărași and Cimișlia District Police Commissariat, head of the Buiucani Police Inspectorate and head of the Bender Police Inspectorate. On August 22, 2017, he was named adviser to the President of Moldova for special missions.
