Minister of Education presents regulations on logopedic activity

The Ministry of Education proposed the regulations concerning the organization of the activity of logopedists in education institutions for public debates. Under the document, the district/municipal psychopedagogical assistance service will be the authority that will recommend and determine the necessity of logopedic activity as development support for children/students with language and communication disorders. The logopedists will be hired by contest, based on professional competency criteria, according to the methodology of employing teaching staff, IPN reports.

In general education institutions, the logopedic activity will be performed by a specialist with higher education in special psychopedagogocy/logopedicts. The logopedist will subordinate to the director of the general education institution. Methodologically, the logopedist’s work will be monitored and supervised by the logopedist/psychopedagogue of the district/municipal psychopedagogical assistance service managed by the National Psychopedagogical Assistance Center.

The logopedists in general education institutions will work for seven hours a day and, respectively, 35 hours a weekly: 18 hours a week for direct activities with children and 17 hours a week for activities to prepare for the provision of logopedic assistance by working out assessment instruments, intervention programs etc.

The administration of the education institution will ensure conditions for the work of the logopedist by providing an appropriate office, teaching aids, necessary equipment and methodological literature.
