The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Vadim Brînzan, argues that, for the 100 days since assuming office, he has been working on revealing schemes of Moldtelecom, Railways, ANTA, Cricova or Metalferos. According to the minister, at least one billion lei has been embezzled from the state, IPN reports.
"In order to achieve real economic growth, it is absolutely necessary to reveal the schemes by which the state was looted, to de-monopolize the economy sectors in order to increase the access of entrepreneurs to the market, to have a management of state and private enterprises," said the minister, in the context of presentation by Prime Minister Maia Sandu of the report on the 100 days after the investiture.
According to Vadim Brînzan, in the state-owned enterprises with faulty management, the administrators have been dismissed and others have been appointed, ad interim. Also, public tenders have been announced for the positions of directors at Red Nord, Posta Moldovei, Port Ungheni and MoldATSA.
An audit of Moldtelecom revealed several irregularities, implicitly the use of company’s funds to sponsor PDM political activities. Vadim Brînzan says several vicious contracts signed to the detriment of the institution have been cancelled.
About 500 million lei have been looted annually from the state through the Railways, says the minister. For the demonopolization and depoliticization of the enterprise, a new law in the field of railway transport has been developed.
As for Metalferos, Vadim Brînzan says he has drafted and proposed for approval a package of laws aimed at demonopolizing the enterprise and liberalizing the export market for metal waste. At the end of October, the extraordinary meeting of Metalferos shareholders will be held, where a new management of the company will be elected. An audit mission will be arranged later.
Vadim Brînzan spoke about increasing the component of grants for SMEs and enhancing the dialogue with Romania regarding the reduction of roaming charges, starting with January 2020. Vadim Brînzan claims that he has discovered several gaps in the field of constructions, therefore he proposed to amend the legislation in order to reduce the number of illegal constructions and increase the quality of constructions. Contracts have been signed with the development partners on the repair of four road corridors and the repairs to the local roads have been financed.
Moreover, Vadim Brînzan has specified that currently works to connect the Chisinau Arena to electricity, water and sewerage are underway. The process should be concluded by the end of October, when the completion of construction is expected. According to the minister, the greatest problem concerns the access to Arena, but also the lack of a development plan for this construction object.
