The voter turnout in the second round of the mayoral elections was higher than the minimum of 25% in practically all the constituencies of the second level at 4pm. The voters in Soldanesti district continue to be the most active ones, while those in Cahul district – the least active ones. The general voter turnout at 4pm was about 35%, IPN reports.
In Chisinau, the turnout was close to 32%, as opposed to over 30% on June 14. In Botanica district of Chisinau, the voters were the most active, while in Ciocana district – the most passive.
According to the president of the Central Election Commission Iurie Ciocan, 53% of the voters who cast their ballots were women. Some 8.5% of the voters aged 18-25 had marked their ballots by 4pm. The results for the other age categories are as follows: 26-30 age bracket – 7.7%, 41-50 - 16%, 51- 60 – 23%, 61-70 - 19%, over 71 – 10%.
Iurie Ciocan noted that some people pushed each other at the polling place in Topala, Cimislia. The police are monitoring the situation there and voting goes smoothly.
