Minimum salary for public sector employees to be increased next year

The minimum salary for public sector employees as from next January will be 3,100 lei, up from 2,200 lei. This salary is taken into account when making the compensatory payment, as a difference between the minimum pay of 3,100 lei and the monthly salary calculated in accordance with the law. This is provided in the bill concerning the 2022 fiscal and customs policy that was approved by the Government, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Finance said the modification covers a large number of salary earners wail small pays. The annual bonus for public sector employees will be provided again and the pay grade for teaching staff of psychopedagogical assistance bodies will be increased.

The draft fiscal and customs policy for next year says the personal exemptions on taxes will rise, while the exemptions for maintained persons will be doubled. This way, the personal exemptions for private individuals will grow from 25,200 lei to 27,000 lei (personal exemption), from 30,000 to 31,500 lei (major personal exemption) and from 18,900 to 19,800 lei (major exemption for husband/wife). For maintained persons (children), the exemption will be doubled from 4,500 lei to 9,000 lei.
