The Cabinet approved the indexation of the minimum guaranteed monthly income by 4.2%, taking into account the inflation rate at the end of the previous year. Thus, after indexation, the minimum guaranteed monthly income will be 1,634 lei for an adult and 1,700 lei for a child, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the guaranteed minimum monthly income is used to determine the social assistance benefit.

It is projected that about 25,000 disadvantaged families will monthly benefit from social assistance in 2024. The average benefit is about 2,400 lei.

The guaranteed minimum monthly income is indexed every year on April 1. In 2023, the minimum guaranteed monthly income was indexed by 15% to 1,568 lei for an adult and 1,631 lei for a child.
