Minibuses circulating on Puskin Street to be redirected on Eminescu Street
Minibuses will not circulate anymore on Puskin Street from Chisinau. The interim Mayor of Chisinau Vasile Ursu will sign a disposal on this issue in the near future.
The interim Mayor declared on Monday, July 14, at a meeting of the City Hall, that minibuses will be redirected to Eminescu Street once the repair works on this street will be finished.
According to the quoted source, the administration of the city made this decision in order to avoid doubling the routes of buses, trolleybuses and minibuses, and “for protecting the municipal public transport”. Vasile Ursu mentioned that Mihai Eminecu Street is located at a distance of 2 streets from Puskin Street which is maximum 200 hundred meters, so that the decision of the City Hall will not affect the passengers.
At the same meeting, the head of the Public Transport General Departement, Veaceslav Tarna announced that the new circulation scheme for the public transport was drafted and it must be presented to the City Hall this week. The new scheme was solicited by the Chisinau Municipal Council in order to avoid superposition of the routes of minibuses, trolleybuses and buses.
According to the information of the Public Transport General Direction, at present 220 trolleybuses, 97 buses and 1600 minibuses are circulating on the streets of Chisinau. The number of transport units will be increased when the inflow of passengers will grow. This is considered to be the begging of the new school year.
On November 14, 2005, through a similar decision of the City Hall, 18 minibus routes which were circulating on Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Boulevard were redirected to the neighbor streets, fact which displeased the administrators of routes and a part of the population.
