Minibus route case remitted to court for reconsideration
The Supreme Court of Justice Wednesday accepted the Chisinau Municipal Council’s application to annul its own decision on the distribution of minibus routes in the municipality. The case was sent to the Chisinau Court of Appeals for reexamination, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The Private Carriers Association does not recognize the results of the tender contest held two years ago. After about one hour and a half of deliberation, the court accepted the Municipal Council’s application,” said the Association’s chairman Ion Mamaliga. The Supreme Court of Justice ordered quashing the decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeals and remitting the case for reconsideration.
Ion Mamaliga said this is the first victory won by the carriers that are dissatisfied with the contest results.
The tender contest that took place tow years ago generated serious disputes. As a result, the Municipal Council annulled its own decision. But the winning companies appealed the decision to the Chisinau Court of Appeals and won the case. Late in May, the discontented carriers protested in front of the Supreme Court of Justice, demanding overturning the Court of Appeals’ decision.
