Drivers of minibuses running on routes in Chisinau are collecting signatures in support of mounting a protest on March 16 to demand raising fares following the more evident depreciation of the leu.

The announcement was made by the head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division Igor Gamretski in the March 3 meeting of officials of Chisinau City Hall subdivisions and municipal services, IPN reports.

The administrators of minibus routes assured they do not subscribe to drivers’ initiatives. In the eventuality of possible strikes, the municipality will ask the Chisinau Urban Bus Company and the Electric Transport Company to be ready to increase the number of units of transport running on routes.
