The court issued arrest warrants for 30 days against the drivers of the minibuses running on routes No. 155 and 120 that were involved in serious road accidents last week, head of the Chisinau Police Division’s press service Adrian Jovmir has said.
Deputy head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division Vitalie Butucel has told IPN that an application to withdraw the licenses of the two companies that manage routes No. 155 and 120 will be submitted to the Licensing Chamber tomorrow at the latest.
Information will be collected in parallel about the irregularities committed by the drivers of the given companies. Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca will decide if the contract with these carriers will be terminated or not.
Eleven persons, three of whom children, were taken to the Emergency Hospital after the minibus No. 155 by which they travelled overturned after colliding with another vehicle. The accident happened at the intersection of the streets Mihai Eminescu and Shchusev in the evening of July 2. As a result of another accident, on July 4, a girl aged five died after she was struck in the crosswalk by a minibus travelling on route No. 120.
