Milsami is close to qualifying for the semifinals of Moldova’s Football Cup. The current holder of the trophy beat Petrocub 2-0 in Hâncești in the first leg of the quarterfinals, IPN reports.

The goals were scored by Vasile Jardan (3rd minute) and Mihail Plătică (82nd). In the 63rd minute, Vasile Jardan was sent off.

“I congratulate Milsami on this victory. We got a goal promptly and had to change the approach to the game. I’m responsible for this defeat. We probably didn’t recover and didn’t work enough. We will try to produce a surprise in Orhei. But we must exclude the mistakes we made today,” Petrocub coach Lilian Popescu told a news conference.

The other matches of the quarterfinals of Moldova’s Cup ended as follows: Dinamo-Auto - Sfîntul Gheorghe 0-3, Sheriff - Speranța 3-0 and Zaria - Zimbru 3-2. The second legs are played on October 31.
