Milsami and Dacia win as Zimbru lose in European competitions
Milsami Orhei obtained their first victory ever in European competitions. On Thursday, July 19, the Eagles bested Aktobe Kazakhstan, 4-2, in the first leg of the second preliminary round of Europa League, Info-Prim Neo reports.
For the Moldovan side, striker Gheorghe Boghiu netted a brace, while Rafael Wellington and Cornel Gheti added their names on the scoresheet as well. The guests fielded Moldovan international Serghei Covalciuc, who was transferred this summer.
“We capitalized on their mistakes in midfield. I think both teams still have a chance to qualify”, said Milsami coach Serghei Clescenco.
In another Europa League match last night, Dacia Chisinau obtained a home victory against Swedish side Elfsborg, 1-0. Maxim Mihaliov scored the only goal of the game in the first half. This is the Yellow Wolves’ third consecutive 1-0 victory in the European competition this season.
Only Zimbru Chisinau failed to obtain a victory and lost away to Swiss outfit Young Boys, score 1-0. Michael Frey scored for the hosts in the second half. Despite the defeat, Zimbru still has a chance to qualify for the 3rd preliminary round of the Europa League.
The second legs are scheduled for July 26. Milsami and Dacia will play away, while Zimbru will play hosts.
