Milsami and Dacia qualify for Europa League second round

Milsami Orhei and Dacia Chisinau have qualified for the second round of Europa League. The third Moldovan team taking part in this competition, FC Tiraspol, was eliminated.

Milsami made great effort to beat Dudelange Luxemburg at home 1-0 and then scored a 0-0 tie away. The next opponent of the team trained by Stefan Stoica is Shahter Soligorsk of Belarus.

Marian Stoleru and Vasiliy Pavlov scored in the match won by Dacia at home and, owing to the goal scored away, the ‘yellow wolves’ qualified for the next round. “The qualification was important. After the undeserved defeat sustained a week ago, we were to prove that we are better,” Dacia coach Igor Negrescu said after the game. Now the vice champion of Moldova will meet Cernomorets Odessa of Ukraine.

FC Tiraspol was close to qualifying for the second round of Europa League. After being beaten at home by Latvia’s Skonto 0-1, the team won a 0-1 victory away owing to the goal scored by Yevgen Zarichniuk. The winner was decided in runoff, where the Latvian players were more precise and the score was 4-2.

The matches of the second qualifying round of Europa League will take place on July 18 and 25.
