Milk producers advised to form associations

Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc urged the milk producers to join together so as to be able to purchase and jointly use milk pasteurization and packing lines. According to him, the Ministry is implementing different measures to subsidize the farmers, including the animal breeders that want to set up processing and packing enterprises, Info-Prim Neo reports. The minister made the statements at the launch of the project “Opportunity of Processing and Selling Milk by Small and Medium-Sized Producers”. The event was attended by over 50 farm owners from different areas of Moldova. The launch took place at the National Institute for Animal Breeding and Veterinary Medicine in Maximovka village. It was preceded by a seminar centering on the technical characteristics of the project and the advantages of switching to a superior milk production stage. The National Institute for Animal Breeding and Veterinary Medicine has recently set up a line for processing and packing the milk produced at the farm run by it. “We produce and pack over 500 liters of milk a day. The milk is sold through the shop chain Fidesco in Chisinau and other towns,” said the Institute's head Andrei Shumanski. “As far as we know, the milk produced in Maximovka is in demand owing to the guarantees concerning the origin and quality of milk we provide.” Valeriu Cosraciuc said the creation of small milk processing and packing companies in rural areas would help the milk producers increase their incomes.
