Military officer faces trial
An inspector from the border patrol “Giurgiulesti”, who fatally stabbed his neighbor last month, will stand trial, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
On the night of March 21, the inspector, who was off duty, started a quarrel with his neighbor. The two parted ways after the conflict seemed to be resolved. Suddenly, the serviceman changed his mind, caught up with his neighbor, and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest.
The victim died on the spot; the officer discarded the knife into the Prut River, and left. The corpse was found on the next evening by a local shepherd. The author of the crime was identified shortly after. When being questioned by the police, the man acknowledged his act. Presently, the man is remanded in custody. If found guilty, he may be sentenced from 12 to 20 years in jail or life imprisonment.
