Mihail Formuzal wants Gagauzia to be connected to gas market of Customs Union

Gagauzia intends to integrate into the gas market of the Eurasian Customs Union through the agency of the newly created enterprise that manages the about 400 kilometers of gas pipes on the autonomous region’s territory, which are not administered by “Moldovagaz”. The Bashkan of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal made the announcement in a news conference, saying the steps that will be taken in this direction will be in compliance with the Moldovan legislation, IPN reports.

Mihail Formuzal said the integration into the gas market of the Customs Union will enable to purchase gas at prices that will be convenient for all the residents of Gagauzia and will ensure the region’s energy security.

“It is public money that we concentrate in this enterprise. We must make sure that it is functional. Afterward, we will think what to do with the gas pipes and how to use them so as to obtain maximal benefits for the people,” said the governor.

“Currently, the average pension of the population is US$70-80. But in winter, when the heat bills are high, the people need about US$150-200 a month. It’s a problem of society. We are dealing with it using means within the law.”
