Actor Mihai Volontir was conferred the title of Citizen of Honor of Chisinau municipality, by a decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council. The Council’s secretary Valeriu Didencu has told IPN that the title was awarded for remarkable accomplishments in the theatrical and cinematographic art.

Mihai Volontir also holds the award “Personality of the Country”. At the beginning of 2000, he became a Citizen of Honor of Balti municipality. He was also given the Order of the Republic, which is the highest award of Moldova.

In 2009, Mihai Volontir became Doctor Honoris Causa of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova for results achieved in developing the theatrical and cinematographic art, on the occasion of his 75th birthday.

On March 9, the actor turns 80.
