Mihai Popsoi signed the Book of Condolences opened by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to sign the Book of Condolences opened following the December 25 air disaster, IPN reports.

"At this time of great sorrow, I convey my condolences to the bereaved families and all the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan. I wish speedy and full recovery to those who were injured in this tragic accident. The Republic of Moldova stands by Azerbaijan in this period of mourning, expressing its full solidarity," Minister Mihai Popșoi wrote in the Book of Condolences.

The deputy mayor of the capital, Olga Ursu, also went to the Azerbaijani Embassy a day ago to convey her condolences to the bereaved families and to wish the injured a speedy recovery.

According to the information provided by the company operating the flight, the plane that crashed on Wednesday in Kazakhstan had 67 people on board, including 5 crew members. Of the total number of passengers, 37 were citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 citizens of Kyrgyzstan, 6 citizens of Kazakhstan and 16 citizens of Russia.

According to foreign media, referring to sources, Russian anti-aircraft defenses shot down the Azerbaijan Airlines plane that crashed in Kazakhstan, killing 38 people.
