Mihai Godea says candidates for presidency should declare incomes
Unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea proposed that those who want to become head of state should declare their incomes. His legislative initiative was sent to the parliamentary commission on appointments and immunities, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Under the bill, the candidates are examined within 30 days of the day the examination body receives the documents required by law. At the request of the examination body, the public authority that initiated the assessment can extend the examination period for at most 30 calendar days. Within seven workdays of the day the examination results are made public, the public authority takes a decision on the candidate’s compatibility or incompatibility with the post of President. Consequently, the examination process and the process of taking a decision can last for over 60 days.
Victor Popa, the head of the commission on appointments and immunities, said the term of over 60 days does not fit the term for registering a candidate for the presidency.
By the vote of the parliamentary majority, the bill was remitted to the commission.
