The parties that want to form a parliamentary ruling alliance practically do not have what to negotiate as the alliance agreement should contain only one sentence: “We commit ourselves to implement the Association Agreement with EU”, the head of the Democratic Action Party (PAD) Mihai Godea stated in the public debate “How appropriate the behavior of the real and potential participants in the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition is in the current situation in Moldova: extra-parliamentary views”, staged by IPN News Agency in partnership with Radio Moldova.
Mihai Godea believes the situation in Moldova is so bad because society is patient and showed that it can accept any deviation from the norm committed by those who are in power. “We are witnesses to grotesque, miserable settling of accounts at the upper level, which consists of blackmail, threats and abuse. I think the people behave correctly as they consider that they do not belong to this settling of accounts,” said the politician.
As to the negotiations to form a ruling alliance, Mihai Godea said the agreement to form the alliance should contain only one sentence: “We commit ourselves to implement the Association Agreement with EU”. “What other things can be discussed than the distribution of posts? There are no remedies to the lack of transparency, which is typical of the negotiations, because we do not have politicians who would think about the state. I think the political class should be fully re-formed as there is nothing that could be improved in the Moldovan political sector. The early parliamentary elections could bring particular cleaning, but these cannot solve the multiple problems faced by the political class of Moldova. Everything is rotten to the core, starting with the politicians and ending with civil society,” stated the head of PAD.
Mihai Godea doubts that the ruling parties are able to implement the Association Agreement with the EU. “The conditions are very cruel and harsh for the extraparliamentary parties. The resources are almost inexistent. I think the moment is opportune for civil society to assume the role of mediator in society. I remember the protests led by functionaries, including in Slovakia. I think something like this is possible in our country too. The oligarchs appropriated everything, but didn’t manage to ‘appropriate’ people’s lives and thus something like this is possible,” said the politician.
The public debate “How appropriate the behavior of the real and potential participants in the negotiations on the formation of a government coalition is in the current situation in Moldova: extra-parliamentary views” is the 45th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are supported by the German foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
