The Liberal parliamentary group will vote only for a government of which it will form part, said the leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu. After the Parliament sitting, he told the reporters that the coming days they will invite the PDM and PLDM to discuss the creation of a new coalition. “Voting a Government means governing and assuming governance,” he stated, quoted by IPN.
According to Ghimpu, Moldova can do reforms and can implement the Association Agreement with the EU and Iurie Leanca can be Prime Minister only if a PLDM-PDM-PL coalition is formed. “Even if a government is voted in with the help of the PCRM, reforms will not be done. If they want to play the ‘reform’ game, we can take Moldova to the Eurasian Union,” he stated.
Mihai Ghimpu also said that he met with Iurie Leanca and Vlad Plahotniuc in the evening of February 11. He told them that the PL will vote for the Government if an agreement between the PLDM, PDM and PL is signed.
The Leanca II Government could not be invested as it garnered only 42 votes of the 51 needed for the purpose. President Nicolae Timofti will launch repeated consultations with the parliamentary factions so as to designate a candidate for premiership for the second round of voting.
