Mihai Ghimpu: We want compromise reached in the presence of foreign politicians to be respected

The Liberal Party wants to take part in governance and will vote for the Leanca Government on condition that the compromise reached at the negotiations held at the Chisinau airport in the presence of European politicians is respected, the party’s leader Mihai Ghimpu said in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Ghimpu noted that the agreement envisions the appointment of an apolitical prosecutor general, the invitation of a foreign mission to assist in doing the justice sector reform and the taking over of the four ministries managed by the Liberal Party within the Alliance for European Integration 1. “In such conditions, we are ready to take part in governance and to vote for the Leanca Government. Otherwise, we cannot vote. We do not want the post of head of state or of prosecutor general. These are speculations,” said Ghimpu.

He also said that he didn’t discuss the composition of the future Cabinet with Iurie Leanca because it is not yet known. “The media reports are not accurate. I think the list of Cabinet members will appear the day the Government will have to be confirmed,” he stated.

The Liberal leader said that Iurie Leanca is not approved of by his party chief and he was fielded for the first round of voting so as not to become Premier. “Even if he is voted in, Iurie Leanca will hold the post of Prime Minister during at most half a year. The PLDM does not want him, but the Europeans believe in Moldova, in Leanca and in the PL,” stated Ghimpu.
