Mihai Ghimpu: We reached a compromise on presidential candidate

The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said the Alliance for European Integration reached a compromise as regards the candidate for the presidency. He did not give names, but said that he personally discussed with this person and underlined that the AEI agreement must be respected, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We, the Liberals, did not enter politics for posts, but for people. We will vote in the President and I hope that there will be peace inside the alliance. These games should be stopped as the people’s interests are more important,” Mihai Ghimpu told the press. He reiterated that it is important not only to elect the head of state, but also to maintain the parliamentary majority. The head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said the AEI will elect one candidate of three, but did not specify whether it was a man or a woman. The legislative body set the date of the president elections for March 16. The deadline for applications is March 12.
