Mihai Ghimpu: We have solutions without negotiating with Communists

“We have solutions for electing the head of state without negotiating with the Communists,” the leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpum said after the meeting of the Council of the Alliance for European Integration on Wednesday evening, quoted by Info-Prim Neo Mihai Ghimpu reiterated that the ruling alliance invited the Opposition to negotiations for several times, but the PCRM did not want to discuss. The Democratic Party head Marian Lupu told the journalists that the Council discussed topical and strategic issues. “We reached a consensus,” he stated, adding that the solution to the political crisis will be an absolutely legal one. “The Constitutional Court established there is a gap in the legislation as regards the election of the President. When the Court passes a decision, we will start to resolve the problem,” Marian Lupu said. The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said it was a constructive discussion. “We are in a situation where we have to implement the agreement on the constitution of the Alliance for European Integration. We must also respect the law,” he stressed. The Constitutional Court let the Parliament to decide when the presidential elections should take place. The Communist Party maintains the post of head of state should be occupied by an apolitical persons. The Opposition says the President must be elected by February 28.
