Mihai Ghimpu to take part in Viktor Yanukovych's inauguration
Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu will participate in the investiture of the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Kiev on February 25, the presidential press service has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Mihai Ghimpu will be accompanied by Mihai Balan, presidential adviser on foreign policy matters, and Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Popov.
While in Kiev, Mihai Ghimpu will have bilateral meetings with Viktor Yanukovych, the President of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenko and the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite. He will also meet with the chairwoman of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies Roberta Alma Anastase.
Official delegations from 100 countries will take part in the ceremony. In the second round of the presidential election on February 7, Viktor Yanukovych beat his rival, PM Yulia Timoshenko, by about 3%.
Moldovan-Ukrainian consultations between deputy foreign ministers and experts were held in Chisinau earlier this week. The demarcation of the border between Moldova and Ukraine, developemnt of the economic relations and the necessity of resuming the work of the intergovernmental commercail and economic cooperation commission were the major topics discussed.
