Mihai Ghimpu to take part in commemoration of 600 years since Battle of Grunwald

Acting President Mihai Ghimpu will participate in the activities that will be held to commemorate 600 years of the Battle of Grunwald in Poland on July 15, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the presidential press service. Mihai Ghimpu, alongside other heads of state, will lay flowers at the monument to the Battle of Grunwald, will visit the local museum and will take part in other related events. The Battle of Grunwald or 1st Battle of Tannenberg was fought on July 15, 1410, during the Polish-Lithuanian-Teutonic war. The alliance of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania decisively defeated the Teutonic Knights. 400 Moldovan soldiers sent by ruler Alexandru cel Bun fought on the allies' side. While in Poland, Mihai Ghimpu will have meetings with the Presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Romania and the Czech Republic and discuss aspects of the bilateral cooperation. Sources in the Presidential Office told the Agency that Mihai Ghimpu will fly to Poland by an ordinary flight on Wednesday evening. Thus, the Speaker will not attend tomorrow's sitting of the Parliament.
