Mihai Ghimpu: They aim not to reform PL, but to vote in Filat

The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu considers that the seven MPs and the heads of the local organizations that created the Council for Reforming the Liberal Party (PL) aim not to reform the party, but to vote in  Vlad Filat as Prime Minister. Ghimpu developed the topic in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

According to Mihai Ghimpu, the five lawmakers were excluded from the PL in compliance with the party’s statutes. Three of them - Ion Hadarca, Oleg Bodrug and Ana Gutu – will not be accepted back even if they admit that they made a mistake. The others still have a chance to return. Somebody wants to destroy the PL and those who left were bought or decided to act so because they weren’t allowed to satisfy their own interests.

As regards the post of Liberal Party chairman, Mihai Ghimpu said that he was elected for a four-year period and is to hold the post for one more year. Another chairman can be elected afterward. The PL intends to submit a decision to the Speaker, informing that the remaining members of the Liberal faction chose Valeriu Munteanu as head of their parliamentary group.

The leader of the PL also said that the party’s members can have different opinions that can be stated and discussed inside the party, not announced as a blow. He admitted that he is impulsive, but stressed that he knows what democracy is.

Last week, seven MPs and a number of local organizations of the PL stated that the PL should be reformed and that Dorin Chirtoaca should be named as the party’s chairman. The next day, five lawmakers of the seven were excluded from the party.
