Mihai Ghimpu says what will happen to Moldova if Igor Dodon is elected President

If the candidate of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon wins the October 30 presidential elections, the Republic of Moldova will have no prosperoiu, democratic and European future, the leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu, who is also running for President, stated in a news conference, IPN reports.

Mihai Ghimpu asked himself what kind of democracy Igor Dodon will promote as President if he intends to ban the Moldovans with dual nationality from holding high-ranking posts. He noted that it is not democratic to ban this in a country with a lot of Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, Bulgarian and other citizens.

The Liberals’ candidate for President said Moldova’s future is in Romania, which is a NATO and EU member. “We tend towards the European integration, but this road is long and difficult. A European official told me once that he does not understand why we want to enter the EU bypassing Romania because this is the shortest road. Only if we unite with Romania will we be able to get rid of the fear that we will be again occupied by Russia because Romania is a NATO member and we will be safe under the shield of NATO,” stated Mihai Ghimpu.

The politician called on the people not to support the men of Moscow in the October 30 elections as the Russian policy has never brought something good to the Republic of Moldova.
