The representatives of all the foreign delegations that participated in the CIS summit in Chisinau wished the new Moldovan authorities luck in electing the head of state, the Caretaker President of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu said Friday after the meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ghimpu said that among the problems discussed with Medvedev were the Transnistrian conflict and the presence of the Russian troops on Moldova's territory. “Russia is ready to help solving the Transnistrian dispute. I asked them to take the necessary measures. As earlier, the identification of a solution to the dispute depends not only on Moldova and Russia, but also on Smirnov (the leader of the Transnistrian region – e.n.). Russia must fulfill the commitments it made in Istanbul. No one wants to build military basis here. There are old munitions that should be transported out of Moldova,” Ghimpu said. The meeting of Ghimpu and Medvedev was the last bilateral meeting involving representatives of Moldova held on the sidelines of the CIS summit in Chisinau. Medvedev will also meet with the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to discuss the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. The most important document examined Friday at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council was the decision on the alleviation of the consequences of the world economic crisis. The next meeting of the CIS heads of state will be held in Moscow in May next year. It will be an unofficial meeting. The official meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council will take place in December 2010.
