Until a new president of the Liberal Party is elected, the party will be coordinated by its former leader Mihai Ghimpu, who is currently the president of honor of PL. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the PL”s National Council on November 7, IPN reports.
In a post in social media, PL says that its National Council also approved changes to the party’s statues and adopted a resolution on the socioeconomic situation.
Ten days ago, the former president of the Liberal Party gave up this post and the seat of municipal councilor in protest at the situation in which he found himself following the criminal cases started against him and because these weren’t recognized as political. The criminal proceedings were brought against Dorin Chirtoacă when he served as mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau, while the power was held by the Democratic Party of Moldova.
