President Nicolae Timofti has conferred the Order of the Republic on Liberal MP Mihai Ghimpu and former MP Vladimir Darie, the President's Office said in a press release. The presidential decree states that the Order of the Republic is awarded to Mihai Ghimpu and Vladimir Darie in recognition of their merits, remarkable contribution to the national revival movement and constant promotion of democratic ideals. The Order of the Republic is the highest civilian award in Moldova.
