Mihai Ghimpu: PL will not support Leanca Government

The Liberal Party (PL) will not vote for Iurie Leanca as Prime Minister, the party’s leader Mihai Ghimpu said after a meeting of the PL’s National Council, IPN reports.

“Where did you see those from the opposition voting? Voting for the Leanca Govrnemnt means being in power.  We cannot assume governance as we didn’t take part in the talks. They are agreeing the program without us. They form the new Government. What should we answer with?” said the Liberal leader.

Mihai Ghimpu also said that for the PL it’s better to be in the opposition than to support what former Premier Vlad Filat maintained during three years of governance. “For us, not the participation in governance is important, but the solving of the problems related to the major goal – the European integration, which means separation from the empire of evil,” said Mihai Ghimpu.

The Liberal Party convened the National Council on May 26 to discuss the sociopolitical situation in the country and the latest developments in the party.

The members of the PL who formed the Council for Reforming the Liberal Party have a different position as to the Leanca Government. They took part in the negotiations together with the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party and asked to be entrusted a number of institutions.
