Mihai Ghimpu: PL will form post-electoral coalition with pro-European parties

The Liberal Party (PL) is ready to form a post-electoral coalition with all the pro-European parties that will enter the future Parliament, the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Ghimpu said that this will be the people’s vote, which must be respected. He noted the PL is ready to form a post-electoral alliance even with the Communist Party, only on certain conditions “Vladimir Voronin will have to recognize the Romanian language, the Stalinist deportations, the organized famine and the Soviet occupation regime. We will then accept to form a coalition with the Communists,” he stated.

Mihai Ghimpu also said that the PL and the other pro-European parties from the current legislature are obliged to win the elections of this autumn and those of 2018 and 2022 because ‘Russia does not sleep’. “If the representatives of Russia do not manage to win the elections in Moldova this year, they will try again in the next elections,” he stated.

As to those who are ready to vote for the parties that will take them into the Customs Union, Ghimpu said this is the Stockholm syndrome, when the victim begins to love the executioner. “These are the consequences of the Soviet occupation. We must get rid of this mentality,” he noted.

Ghimpu underlined that voting for the pro-Russian parties means voting for war and accepting the Russian intervention. “Who entered with the tanks the Czech Republic, Hungary, Transnistria, Georgia and now Ukraine? Surely Russia, not the EU. Who built and repaired roads, schools and kindergartens and provided millions of euros for reforms in our country? The people should weigh these facts before voting,” he stated.
