The Liberal Party (PL) had suffered the consequences after it agreed to form the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) 3 together with the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party, the chairman of the PL Mihai Ghimpu said in the program “Good evening” on Moldova 1 TV channel, IPN reports.
“Many persons were against our entry into the AEI 3. The party was ultimately affected by such a decision. I don’t like how the country is governed and I feel bad in this situation. There is no other solution than becoming part of the European family. Only this way will we get rid of corruption and poverty. The laws there are obeyed,” said the Liberals’ leader.
On the other hand, Mihai Ghimpu considers that now Moldova has no other alternative to the current ruling coalition formed by the three parties. “A coup envisions early elections. In this case, the European development course could be changed. There is now no alternative to the three parties. We must admit that we were wrong and must work and do reforms so as to regain our foreign partners’ confidence,” he said.
Mihai Ghimpu described the protests mounted in the central square of Chisinau as a democratic exercise and said that he supports the protesters. “The people are right. The living conditions haven’t improved during the 20 years of democracy. It is regrettable that some profit from the dissatisfaction of these poor people,” he said.
The chairman of the PL rejected the accusations made by members of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”. “I didn’t go to them because they say things that are not true. They said that I stole the billion and blamed me. It’s a pity that some of the credulous people are misled by those who aim to settle an old score. I went to the people protesting in the square before the Parliament Building to see if Dodon and Usatyi sleep in tents. If you take the people out and make them sleep in tents, you should stay there together with them. I found only Usatyi there. He probably does not have an apartment in Chisinau,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
