The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu apologized on his blog for the tone of the discussion during a televised program earlier this week. He spoke in an unpleasant tone and accused the media outlets of being bought and of starting a denigrating campaign against him. In reaction to his statements, a number of media NGOs and experts asked the politician to make public apologies, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”I admit that I was rude and apologize for the tone of the discussion during the program “In profunzime”. These and other unsaid things made me keep my mouth shut because I want the Alliance to exit. I probably was not right as regards the informing of the general public, but discussions in the interior were held. With all my efforts, the situation in the Alliance became delicate. I was accused groundlessly and not for the first time. This is the reason why I cannot keep my feelings under control and become more impulsive than I am,” writes Mihai Ghimpu. ”What shall we do with demagogy, manipulations, lies, corruption at Banca de Economii?” asked the politician. “What shall we do with corruption in the customs, the tax inspectorate, and the public procurement agency, the smuggling in cigarettes?” The Liberal leader said that things cannot go on like this. “In what way do we differ from the Communist government? The most important thing is how our partners that offer us grants of millions of euros will treat us? These issues should be addressed in a calm manner,” he stated. In the program on Pro TV, Mihai Ghimpu said the Moldovan journalists launched a denigrating campaign against him and made him a scapegoat for all the failures of the ruling alliance. The question that irritated the politician was: Why didn’t he intervene promptly in the Falesti incident as an MP, party leader and former head of state? The media nongovernmental organizations expressed their indignation at the attitude shown by Mihai Ghimpu. They said the fact that he labels the journalists who carried out professional journalistic investigations and objectively covered the tragic incident in the Domneasca Forest and the reactions that followed as ‘bought’ is revolting.
