The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said that the pro-European parties could reach an agreement in 5-10 days and would form the new Government. During a break in the November 26 sitting of Parliament, he told the press that the head of state should not hurry to hold consultations on the issue, IPN reports.
“President Nicolae Timofti should not take steps until there is no parliamentary majority that would assume responsibility for forming and supporting the Government in doing the necessary reforms. We still have time. The Constitution permits,” stated Ghimpu.
The Liberals’ leader said a new meeting with European officials could be held next week. Consultations with the head of state will take place on November 27.
Mihai Ghimpu said that to reach a consensus, the Lib-Dems should convoke the national council of the party and annul the decision not to take part in negotiations. “We are waiting to see what the PLDM decides. We must sit at the negotiating table and do what we didn’t manage to do during the last six years,” he stated.
