Mihai Ghimpu: Filat, Lupu, Plahotniuc and Dodon reached an agreement in secret
Mihai Ghimpu told the press that Vlad Filat, Marian Lupu, Vlad Plahotniuc and Igor Dodon reached an agreement to vote for Zinaida Greceanyi before the December 16 presidential elections. He said that he found out about the agreement after the parties signed it, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I told them that if they didn’t know who Mihai Ghimpu was, they convinced them now. They shouldn’t have discussed behind the scenes. They thought that we are in somebody’s pocket and will do as they tell us. But it wasn’t like that. The Liberal Party has a position and the decisions are taken by us, not somebody else,” Mihai Ghimpu told the reporters in Parliament on December 22.
According to him, the PL will continue to insist that Marian Lupu remain the ruling alliance’s candidate for the presidency. “We will demand this not because I want to be Head of Parliament, as they say, but because we reached an agreement that must be respected. Only this way will the alliance be maintained,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
The President of Moldova is elected by at least 61 votes of MP. The PL has 12 seats, the PLDM - 31, the PDM – 15, while the Socialists – 3.
Under the AEI agreement, the PLDM will hold the post of Premier, PDM – the post of Speaker, and Mihai Ghimpu is to become Head of Parliament after Marian Lupu is elected President.
