Mihai Ghimpu: Brussels has confidence in Moldovan parliamentary alliance

The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said the European officials have confidence in the parliamentary alliance of Moldova and do not treat Igor Dodon seriously. The politician developed the issue in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

“Those from Brussels are wise. They communicate with Dodon as well, but have confidence in the ruling alliance. Dodon was welcomed in Brussels because he is the President and was elected. This is actually our big tragedy – the fact that Dodon was elected by the people,” stated the Liberal leader.

Mihai Ghimpu accused his former coalition partner, ex-Premier Vlad Filat, of the fact that Dodon was elected President. ”Filat is to blame for the fact that we now have an arrogant pro-Russian President. Owing to him, the people lost confidence in the European course and voted for Dodon. They had 32 seats in Parliament. The people trusted Filat and expected changes, but he robbed the bank. The people lost confidence in the pro-European government,” he said.

According to the chairman of the Liberal Party, the Europeans regained confidence in the Moldovan government. “A year ago, we had together with Marian Lupu a meeting with European officials. We told them about the European course, but they had absent faces and didn’t even want to listen to us. They said they expected concrete actions from us and would offer us no assistance. In a year, we met again with these officials. They had serene faces. They were surprised as the Moldovan government managed to do many things in a short period of time,” stated Ghimpu.
