Mihai Ghimpu assures PACE elections will be free and fair

Moldova’s Acting President and the leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu assured the delegation of the ad hoc committee for observing the early parliamentary elections in Moldova of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) that the elections will be free and fair, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the PL. In a meeting with the PACE delegation, Mihai Ghimpu spoke about the Liberal Party’s expectations of the November 28 early parliamentary elections, the main being the strengthening of the Alliance for European Integration’s position in the future Parliament and the resolution of the institutional crisis by electing the head of state. The PACE delegation is headed by Indrek Saar from Estonia, of the Group of Socialists. The delegation also includes Andres Herkel from Estonia, of the Christian-Democrats, and Jorgen Poulsen from Denmark, of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. The delegates were accompanied by the Special Representative of the Council of Europe Secretary General in Moldova Birute Abraitiene.
