Mihai Ghimpu asks Italian investors to contribute to economic recovery in Moldova
“The foreign investments play an important role in the country's economic recovery as they help create new workplaces and implement modern technologies,” Acting President Mihai Ghimpu said at a meeting with members of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Parliament.
Mihai Ghimpu said the 430 companies with Italian capital that work in Moldova invested over 2.5 billion lei in the national economy, which is 10.6% of the total foreign investments.
“We want Moldova to have a functional and developed economy. Therefore, we will be making effort to create a favorable business environment for the foreign entrepreneurs so that they want to come to our country with new projects,” the caretaker head of state said.
In the meeting, the members of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Moldova who represented the agrarian, financial, food and other sectors, submitted a number of proposals for developing the areas in which they work and spoke about the problems they face in Moldova. They said the customs legislation should be modified as the taxes levied at present do not favor the importation of equipment in the country.
The Italian businessmen approved of the development program formulated by the government coalition. They said they are ready to continue investing in Moldova and attract new Italian companies, and advised working out a state program to promote Moldova abroad.
Mihai Ghimpu assured the entrepreneurs that their proposals and the enumerated problems will be analyzed and there will be adopted decisions for every separate case.
