Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu and the Secretary General of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev agreed on the agenda and list of participants in the CIS summit that will take place in Chisinau during October 8-9, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The discussions increased our confidence that the summit will be held in the most appropriate manner. The summit will contribute to stabilizing the situation in Moldova and to strengthening cooperation between the CIS states,” Sergey Lebedev said at the meeting with Ghimpu on September 24. Mihai Ghimpu said that today's discussions were only preliminary and that they will have a new meeting before the summit, on October 5 or 6. The caretaker president stressed that the economic cooperation will be high on the summit's agenda. “We must establish economic relations in order to overcome the social an economic crisis,” he said. The CIS summit will bring together heads of state and foreign ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council will be held on October 8, while the meeting of the Heads of State Council – on October 9. At the summit, Moldova will hand over the CIS presidency.
